What West Hills does to a car
Canary Island pines line Fallbrook Avenue north of Fallbrook Center and drop needles close to a foot long and big cones, while the crape myrtles farther up Fallbrook and along Sherman Way host aphids that leave sticky honeydew. Fire comes over the hills on Santa Ana winds: the Woolsey Fire started at the Santa Susana Field Laboratory in November 2018, and the Kenneth Fire broke out off Victory Boulevard in January 2025 and burned about 1,050 acres. Most West Hills homes have a driveway, and the Westhills tract on the western edge has CC&Rs covering fencing, landscaping and where trash cans go. Valley water from LADWP averages about 8.6 grains per gallon, and when sprinkler overspray dries on the paint it leaves those minerals behind. Fresh spots come off in a normal wash. Older ones need a water-spot remover and sometimes a light polish, so it helps to aim the sprinklers away from the driveway.
