The city's approved parkway palette is heavy on trees that drop onto cars: Japanese privet and African sumac both leave staining berries, Callery pear and Chinese flame tree drop fruit and seed capsules, podocarpus drops fleshy fruit and runs aphid honeydew, and jacaranda and tipu are two of the heaviest drippers in Southern California. City water is 100% local groundwater from three wells 640 to 1,000 feet down, running about 10.5 grains per gallon. The 91, the 605 and the 5 all cross the city.
Cerritos names mobile auto washing in its stormwater code as a prohibited discharge to the storm drain, and unlike its neighbours that section carries no residential car-washing exemption at all.
